Call for Papers
Has, in Foucauldian terms, technology become another means of disciplining the body and of social and political disciplining?
Has the use of technology today been co-opted and instrumentalised by the powers that be?
How are technology and scientific innovation used to reinforce or subvert systems of power and shape society, its culture and cultures?
Where does the balance between the biological and the technological stand at the moment?
How are the social, political and economic issues of today influenced by the pervasiveness of technology into the fabric of our everyday lives?
Can the way technology is marketed to make us better human beings (e.g. in monitoring our health) bring back extremist ideologies of the past?

We look forward to receiving your 200-word paper abstracts, as well as workshop proposals, via Google form.

Visit Iași
The first university in Romania opened here in 1860 - its main building shelters the gorgeous library (pictured left) and Aula belonging to "Gheorghe Asachi" Technical University. During the academic year, the city teems with students enrolled in its public and private universities, including foreign students studying medicine and engineering.  You will find a vast array of museums, cafés, shops and restaurants.
Past editions

While we encourage applicants to participate in person, this edition will also host strictly on-line sessions for those who are eager to share their knowledge and insight, but for whom distance is a major impediment. Unfortunately, we do not provide travel grants.
Participants make their own travel and accommodation arrangements, but we can help guide them with extra information.
Yes, there will be a guided tour of the city in English, as well as a visit to the Library and Aula of the Technical University. Catered lunches will be provided for on-site panels.
No; conference papers will be published in the 2026 issue of the department's journal, Les Cahiers Linguatek/The Linguatek Notebooks, free of charge.
Yes. There will be separate panels for each language (Romanian, French, English, German), but we unfortunately don't offer interpreting services if a non-speaker of French would like to attend any of the French panels, for example.
